We never know what form healing will take.

The first person I worked with on regular basis was Patrick Eaglin.

We worked together for 6 months, once a week, in his home. He was a young father of two girls, happily married, and a professional African drummer. He had not felt good for awhile and was not getting any answers from the medical community.

He was fairly frustrated and a bit depressed when we began our work together. Every week I brought my table to his home so that he could receive energy work and spiritual counseling. Every week he felt a bit more optimistic about his condition, even though he continued to go through various tests to diagnose his physical condition.

In our work together, he seemed to enjoy the exploration of his inner self more than anything else. It lifted his spirits to make connections from his past into the present, and to reframe perspectives so that he could enjoy his daily life, regardless of what was happening in his physical body.

Eventually cancer was discovered and along with that came some fairly invasive treatments.

Throughout all of it, however, I witnessed an incredible transformation within him. It was as if his soul began to shine brighter and brighter as his body got weaker and weaker.

After 6 months, he ended our work together. He passed away a few months later.

I learned the hard lesson that sometimes healing is about helping someone pass over with integrity, self compassion and a strong connection to their soul.

It is usually not the primary intention, for we almost always ask for physical health no matter what the condition is. But sometimes the soul has another agenda and peaceful acceptance can be an extremely valuable gift.

I often thank Patrick for helping me develop the capacity to be there for people in that way, when it’s needed. Most people are extremely uncomfortable facing death directly, lovingly, while still being open to the possibility of an unexplained physical transformation.

This is how I support people who are dealing with a life threatening illness- how to live on the razor’s edge of acceptance and possibility.

The process of healing does not always make sense and cannot be controlled, though it can be influenced.

Here’s another completely different way that healing might happen…

We were in the process of moving. Out realtor knew about my work because I had a home office.

One day she called me up in tears. “I’m not sure if you can do anything, but I am on my way to Ireland to see my brother. He has cancer. He’s only 30 years old and he has an abdomen full of tumors the size of golf balls and oranges! (They had taken CAT scans) Can you help?”

I said that I would do what I could. I wasn’t quite as confident in my remote healing skills then as I am now, and Ireland was very far away! But I sat down and set my intention.

Surprisingly I found it very easy to tune in. It was just as if he was right there next to me! My hands worked swiftly and efficiently, feeling as if it was effortless to remove the tumors. I did energy work for just about a half an hour and then it felt “done”.

Two days later our realtor called me again, in tears, from Ireland. “They can’t explain it! They opened him up for surgery and there was only one tumor the size of a pea in his gallbladder!”

I will never forget those words. I felt as if Spirit was showing me the wide range of possible experiences.  Sometimes there is physical recovery, sometimes there isn’t.  We never know ahead of time what form healing will take.

A lady from California contacted me through Facebook.

Because I often do healing and educational work through facebook, I accepted her friend request. A few weeks later she posted that she was headed for the ER in some distress.

I posted right back asking if she wanted some distance KIA Reiki support from me. Her post back was Yes, that she had responded well to Reiki in the past and would appreciate it from me.

The posts stopped there. I waited a bit and then set up and did a distance healing over the next hour or so, simply following what my Guidance told me to do.

An hour or so later I got a posting from her friend saying that after she got in the ambulance she had gone into a semi coma state and that after reaching the hospital and getting hooked up on the machines they were having trouble getting her back.

Suddenly though, she started to respond and continued to gain ground during all this. The friend and I were able to compare the time line of her responses and the times I was sending KIA Reiki to her and they meshed together perfectly!

I found out after the episode that she has Lyme’s disease, has had it since the ’80’s and has a had trouble getting treatment for it in California. She has had several attacks like this in the past and they have all required a 2 or 3 week stay in the hospital after. This time she was released the next day!
